Writer's block happens to the best of us. If I ever met a writer who said they never had writer's block, I would shake their hand and ask what their secret is (even though they are probably lying).
Let's face it, sometimes you just get so busy that by the time you get home and have time to yourself, you collapse onto your bed and pass out. Or, you have no brain power left and end up mindlessly checking Facebook and Tumblr. Well, most of that is just me. But I'm pretty sure it applies to other people too.
The best thing I've ever done to get myself to write is to write a little bit everyday. Even if it's just a paragraph or writing down a story idea. Sometimes writing just for the sake of writing is the best thing you can do.
I have a list of topics I want to write about, but this particular topic jumped ahead of the line.
Recently, I had a crazy, weird, epic dream. It's too long to describe, and would be very confusing if you don't know me personally. But, it was intense. When I woke up, I kept thinking about it so I wouldn't forget the details of the dream. As soon as I had a chance I wrote down everything I remembered from the dream.
Another purpose of this blog was to have one place where I can update everyone on where I am with my writing.
With two novels in the works, you would think I would be overwhelmed. I'm weird though. I'm extremely excited and thriving on the challenge of writing two books at once. I will work on one chapter until it is complete, then move to the next chapter of the other book.
Mordia Update - I have begun writing book 2 of the Mordia trilogy, entitled SILVER. The first draft of Chapter 1 is complete and I am almost halfway through Chapter 2. I am hoping to complete it by the end of this week.
To Court Death Update - The first draft of Chapter 1 has been completed. I am very excited about it and am gathering my thoughts on where to go with Chapter 2. This one is different than what I have written before, mainly because it is in the first-person point of view.
Since both these projects are still in the early stages, I won't be sharing any writing snip-its in this post. In the future I will be sharing bits and pieces of the chapters I am working on as sort of a teaser.
I don't know if I was ever told by anyone to save everything that I write.
As my mother and fiance can attest, I am a pack-rat. I save pretty much everything I possibly can. It's a sickness. I need help.
BUT, this particular little "quirk" of mine has validity. Because of my pack-ratness (I know it's not a word. I just like the way it sounds) I started saving all my writing when I was in my teens.
Now I am twenty-four. I graduated with a BA in English, concentration Writing. I am the Marketing Coordinator at a great resort & spa. I just self-published my own novel entitled BLOOD. It is part of the Mordia: Search for the Lost trilogy. I am working on the second book of the trilogy, as well as a separate horror novel called To Court Death.
I still have a hard time calling myself an author.
